In 2016, under the major strategic deployment of the CPC Central Committee to promote the supply-side structural reform and deepen the reform of state-owned assets and enterprises, Baosteel and Wisco jointly reorganized to establish China Baowu. The former Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Baowu. After the implementation of the company restructuring, it was renamed Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Wuhan Iron and Steel Group").
